About me
Hello,
I imagine if you are searching for therapists at the moment, you might be going through a tricky time, sifting through the many options out there.

It might be that you are noticing that you may not feel ok in your life and want to do something about it…. Taking this first step for some people is the hardest part and you are well on your way to this already.
I wanted to share a bit more about myself so you have an idea about who I am, my experience and if I am the right fit for you. It’s really important that you feel comfortable with your therapist, I hope this short summary shares a bit more about me to help you to make an informed decision.
From the feedback from the hundreds of people I have worked with over the years they will say I provide a safe, warm, comfortable environment – this is really important to me.

In terms of my work experience, I have worked in the Public, Private and Voluntary Sector in mental health services for the past 24 years. This has included leadership roles in the NHS and Local Authority.
In 2008, I joined my local Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), offering parenting intervention and then as a CBT Therapist, Supervisor and EMDR Therapist. I started my Private Practice in 2017 and this grew so much that I left the NHS permanently to focus on LD Therapies. This then allowed me to have more balance with my work and my family life, something that is incredibly important to me.
When I founded LD Therapies, my aim was to provide an ageless service , something that anyone can access anywhere in the world.
I had worked within the NHS, Local Authority and Voluntary Sector for 17 years, by that point and was ready to look for something new. It was also around that time that my family started to grow, and I was looking for some flexibility.
Over the years I have gained extensive experience of working with children, young people and adults who experience low mood, anxiety, self-harm, stress, social anxiety, panic disorder, emetophobia, general phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder, separation anxiety, generalised anxiety, trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder.
While in the NHS I also trained in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) and Autism Diagnostic Interview ADI-R (Autism assessments). In my senior role within the NHS, I supervised therapists across the NHS trust and helped to support the training of newly qualified CBT Therapists.
I am still heavy engaged in allot of this work in my Private Practice, In the supervision tab you will see I provide Clinical Skills Groups and Clinical Supervision to trainees, liaising with Universities across the North West, and supervising qualified CBT Therapists across the country.
Prior to my direct clinical work, I was the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Commissioner for Stoke-on-Trent. This included the strategic planning and commissioning of mental health services across the city.
I was able to work at a local and regional level, to lead on the development of services in our local area for children’s mental health, of which I am incredibly passionate about.
I was also a school governor at our local school for three years.
In 2021 I wrote a chapter in the book ‘helping children with their anxieties’ by Ann Cox.
It is important to me that I offer the most up to date information about the developments in CBT and EMDR. I am committed to continuous professional development and ensure I create enough space to allow me to attend training on an ongoing basis.
