Therapy, Training and Supervision

CBT
Supervision

I thoroughly enjoy my role as a CBT supervisor and a large proportion of my week is offering supervision and clinical skills groups to CBT Therapists and CYWP (Children and Young Peoples Wellbeing Practitioner) Practitioners.

I am a fully accredited BABCP registered CBT Supervisor.

Supervision for CBT Trainees and Qualified Therapists

I work closely with Universities for those in training and I have a number of contracts offering supervision to trainees. I can also offer supervision to fully qualified CBT Therapists and CYWP’s.

I use various methods to help you to achieve your supervision goals and my aim is to provide a compassionate, safe space to be curious about cases and your development as a therapist to help you to grow in confidence.

As a BABCP CBT supervisor I can support you to gain and maintain your accreditation.

I can also offer a space to explore working in private practice.

Here are some of the comments from a few of my supervisees. If you want to find out more about working with me, please send me a message. I offer a free 15 min consultation.

All Sessions are via video call.

Testimonials

‘Lisa is a great supervisor as she offers a good balance between interesting, thought provoking clinical discussion, and advice on how to move forward with patients. It’s really helpful that she is able to deliver supervision for both CBT and EMDR. Lisa is very professional, but also has a down-to-earth and relaxed approach. ’

Eliza

‘Lisa has provided me with CYWP supervision for quite a few years now, I have always found our supervision sessions to be very focused and informative. Lisa gives me fantastic direction with my interventions and is happy to support me in working out my next steps with interventions when I am feeling a little unsure or stuck with my next move. Lisa is also always happy to refresh my memory when it comes to interventions and how to approach/ deliver each stage.

Lisa is a very skilled/ knowledgeable supervisor and I always look forward to both my Case management and Clinical skills supervision.’

Claudia

‘I couldn’t be more grateful to have Lisa as my supervisor. She consistently creates a safe space where I feel comfortable sharing anything on my mind, she has realms of knowledge and has helped massively with guiding me in terms of case management. Not only this but she has gone above and beyond to support myself and my colleagues with in-service challenges in regards to our role development. I genuinely do not believe I would have been able to get through my training year and all the teething problems in service if it wasn’t for Lisa. She has helped shaped me into a conscientious practitioner. I leave every supervision session feeling much lighter and brighter - I truly do have the best supervisor!’

Aamirah

‘I have had a really positive experience of supervision during my trainee year, and it has been such a big help in developing my practice and improving my confidence. Lisa has provided a safe space to talk about concerns, issues, trouble shoot any problems and offer suggestions or ideas when needed and overall has been lovely to work with and very supportive in all areas. Supervision has also been a regular spot to discuss cases and plan for interventions or further formulation sessions. I have also really enjoyed working in a skills group, being able to reflect and help each other and learn from other peoples experiences as well as share my own to help them, this has been a really good part of the trainee year, and I feel it would have been a struggle without.’

Josh

‘Over this past year I have found supervision to be extremely important, informative and valuable for enhancing and developing my skills. During each supervision I have felt my confidence grow supporting me to navigate through my own practise, identifying areas of both strength and improvement. I could not imagine doing this course without supervision it has and is extremely important each week over the past year and it was always well used. Lisa made sure I got what I wanted out of each supervision and ensured I always left feeling I knew what I needed to do.’

Shannon

‘Lisa is gentle and kind in her approach, with a caring attitude. Lisa listens and I always feel heard, both in 1:1 and in group supervisions. I particularly enjoy group clinical skills when we focus on an agreed topic of interest, e.g. inhibitory learning, goal-setting, challenging thoughts and behaviours etc. 1:1 supervision enables me to ensure I am formulating accurately and being thorough, so that the CYPs have the best possible outcomes.

Lisa has very good knowledge of my role and vast experience within this field, her expertise supports me in delivering meaningful interventions with my own career progression in mind.’

Jen

‘Where do I begin…. I look so forward to my supervisions with Lisa. She holds me in a safe space, is so calming and also really thoughtful. We talk through individual cases and Lisa offers insight and guidance, with regards to formulation and intervention plans. Lisa’s CBT knowledge is phenomenal and her CYWP supervisor credentials leave her able to offer super structured advice and support, for our low intensity CBT way of working. I always leave my supervision sessions, feeling lighter and knowing that I have a clear plan of action. You wont get a better supervisor than Lisa –she is the best!’

Kim

‘I look forward to my supervisions with Lisa. I have felt totally safe to discuss my work with complete transparency and find it easy to talk about things I haven’t done very well and know I will not be judged for this. Lisa always fills me with confidence, and I leave our supervisions feeling empowered with a clear understanding of what I need to do with my cases. Supervision has been invaluable for me during a stressful year, and Lisa will always check in with my wellbeing and give me space to talk about and life stressors I have going on.’

Meg

‘I have had the blessing of being supervised by Lisa now for the past year. She is an extremely experienced and knowledgeable CBT Supervisor and Therapist. Her niche experience and expertise with children is super helpful, reassuring and the icing on the cake! Lisa holds every aspect of you and what you bring to Supervision, Therapy in mind and an hour with her leaves you feeling, valued, worthy, confident and wonderfully nourished. This in combination with her gentle, soothing, loving interpersonal style is just simply ace.  I could not ask for more in a Supervisor.‘

Michelle

‘I feel your wealth of knowledge on clinical practice is what works for me, in terms of wellbeing, CBT, private practice and of course supervision. You have a warm personality as well as being highly focused an organised! Thank you for all your help so far and looking forward to you helping through my CBT course.’

Greg

‘I feel very lucky to have Lisa as my supervisor. She was an unbelievable support during my training year, which was particularly challenging due to family bereavement. Lisa’s kind and caring approach helped me navigate this difficult time and prepare me to begin working with children, young people and families when I felt ready to. Through skills supervision, Lisa has helped me to improve my practise, particularly in risk, after I failed one of my treatment tapes for the course. Regularly watching recordings together helped me to reflect on what I was already doing well and the small sections I needed to change in order to pass. Experiencing this setback was difficult, however Lisa’s support, guidance and reassurance has helped me to become a better practitioner. I have now worked with Lisa for two years and feel my confidence and knowledge have gone from strength to strength. I always feel comfortable to discuss any concerns I have, both personal or professional; Lisa will do her best to make time for my colleagues and I and has been instrumental in helping us develop the CYWP offer in our service, which was brand new when we began. I would recommend her to trainees and experienced practitioners alike.’

Anne

‘I have been supervised by Lisa since 2022. Lisa has always offered a safe and confidential space to talk through cases, bring my queries or any concerns. Supervision will often consist of collaborative working to jointly make decisions and encourages us to think outside of the box and consider different points of view. Her own skillset as a practitioner has been so helpful, aside from being able to upskill me and other practitioners, she can support us in signposting young people and their families to alternative therapeutic interventions.

I have developed professionally significantly, guided through both familiar and unfamiliar interventions, which has improved my confidence massively. Supervision is always consistent and well structured, ensuring we are making the most of the time we have.’

Javeriah

‘My experience of supervision has been extremely positive. Lisa has been hugely helpful in guiding practice, extremely supportive from a pastoral and emotional perspective and very encouraging in what has been a challenging year so far. I have found her advice and guidance on specific cases extremely helpful in giving specific advice at times, but also helping me to come to my own decisions concerning rationale for treatment, suitability of referrals and approaching ongoing treatment. I have not utilised supervision a huge amount for specific role-play as it does not always feel like the best use of time, discussions over cases usually takes precedent. I wouldn’t wish for any changes in how I experience supervision or the way in which Lisa holds the space. I am extremely grateful for Lisa’s supervision and it has been absolutely core to my progression and growth so far. I have begun to feel more confident in the last month with assessment and treatment and hope this will develop. Lisa has also been very helpful and supportive with specific assessments and guidance around video-tape submissions.’

Isaac

‘I have thoroughly enjoyed my supervision sessions with Lisa. Her support, encouragement, guidance and knowledge has been something I will never forget. I went through a particularly challenging year personally and without Lisa’s support, I don’t think I could have got through it as seamlessly as I did. Lisa would push me where I was hesitant, and she knew I was doubting myself but also give me the space to reflect on my practice. Having a constant and consistent person to go to when I had questions or feeling overwhelmed was the saving grace of this course. Lisa would always be there with her words of wisdom, questioning me and challenging what I was doing in sessions but in a good, critical way getting me to think of different options, voicing my opinion, ensuring we were giving the young person the best possible support as well as helping me become an autonomous practitioner. Virtual sessions can be difficult, but Lisa created a nurturing, compassionate and safe environment from day one, which enabled me to grow into the practitioner I am today. I am extremely grateful to have had Lisa as my clinical supervisor, and I am sad that our sessions have come to an end, but I will be taking everything I have learnt along my career journey.’

Faye, CYWP

‘I have had such a positive and supportive experience in both my CCMS and CS. Lisa has provided unwavering support for me throughout my year as a CYWP trainee as well as supporting me within my service. The sessions have allowed me to reflect on my own practice and develop actions points from my feedback. Supervision has helped me develop my knowledge base and develop my critical thinking skills when obstacles have arisen in clinical work. Lisa has also supported me when following the correct safeguarding pathways when risk arises at assessment and in sessions.

Supervision has allowed me to develop as a trainee and I now feel ready to progress as a qualified practitioner in the near future. ‘

Lizzie, CYWP

‘Lisa Dale is an amazing supervisor, and I feel very fortunate to have her guidance. She is both supportive and knowledgeable, always creating a positive and encouraging environment for learning. At the start of every session, she checks on my emotional well- being, which I deeply value. When things get tough, Lisa is always available—whether through email, during supervision time, or by scheduling additional sessions to support me. Her teaching methods are varied and engaging. We use role-playing, case discussions, and videos to make the learning process both practical and interesting. Lisa is also extremely patient and understanding, especially as I’m learning in English as an additional language. She listens carefully, ensures I’ve understood everything. This has been a big help in boosting my confidence.

I truly appreciate her encouragement and dedication, and I’m grateful to have such a supportive and skilled supervisor guiding me.’

Zohreh, CYWP

"Lisa’s warm approach to supervision creates a safe and comfortable environment. I felt able to explore areas for development early on and therefore my confidence as a therapist has increased significantly. I enjoy the structure of our sessions as I often have a variety of agenda items to discuss, at the same time the discussion always feels conversational and collaborative. I also valued the fact Lisa asked about my preferred learning style and now tailers her delivery to meet this."

"Lisa has provided my clinical supervision and group skills for the past two years. I have found Lisa’s support invaluable and it has allowed me the space to learn new skills, manage my caseload effectively and discuss more complex issues, leaving me with direction & focus. Lisa has excellent knowledge of the NHS systems, frameworks and risk management requirements. Clinical supervision has been amazing for my personal development and no doubt been a significant contribution towards securing further career progression opportunities. I would whole heartedly recommend Lisa as a clinical supervisor."

"Having Lisa as my supervisor felt like a beam of light during an extremely challenging training year. She consistently put all of her energy and support into each supervision session. I have learnt a whole realm of knowledge by working with her. Lisa has helped fuel a passion in me to continue developing my career as a practitioner. I have really enjoyed working with her."

"Lisa is a fantastic supervisor. She is welcoming and conscientious of my needs as a supervisee. Lisa puts patient experiences at the forefront of everything we do. She has a fantastic knowledge of varied therapeutic models and vast experience in the world of CAMHS. Lisa gives me space to develop my skills and knowledge, whilst keeping in mind the evidence base and the remits of my role. Supervision always feels collaborative, reflective and safe."

"Since taking up my role in March this year, Lisa has made me feel very welcome both as an individual and as a member of our clinical skills group. She is always eager to support me and aims to build on my knowledge, understanding and skills in everything we do. She is very good at helping me see the big picture and ensures we have the child’s voice at the centre of our decisions. I always feel valued and empowered after our supervisions. Not having a senior practitioner within our team on the ground means it can be easy to lose sight of our role in supporting children, young people and their families as CYWPs, however, Lisa provides opportunities for us to challenge our thinking and broaden our views, to ensure we are offering interventions best suited to meet the needs of the CYPs and their families"
