FAQs
Don’t wait until you are in a crisis – if your mental health is impacting you and preventing you from achieving your goals in life, please get in touch with a trained mental health professional – it is our role to help, guide and support you to be the best version of yourself.
You are worth investing in, looking after yourself will mean you are in a much stronger position to care for loved ones around you.
If you choose to work with me, I am very aware that I may be the first person you are opening up to, about your challenges, and I appreciate how difficult that may be. My first aim is to help you feel understood.
Each session is collaborative and based on your needs, starting with an assessment, this then initiates the formulation to develop a shared understanding of what the difficulty is. Following a detailed assessment and formulation we would then start therapy sessions, monitoring symptoms and goals on a weekly basis, to review progress.
Sessions including assessments are all between 50/60 minutes.
Treatment sessions can last between six and twenty sessions, but this isn’t an exact science, it all depends on what is agreed in your treatment plan. Remember, you are at the heart of this plan and you can stop therapy at any time if you wish.
Therapy sessions start at £85 for 50/60mins and increase based on the time needed per session e.g. it is recommended via EMDR Association UK that when processing difficult memories in EMDR that sessions are 90mins long which are £127.50.
At LD Therapies we offer a free consultation via the telephone or video call. This is not an assessment but an opportunity to see if you feel comfortable working alongside me, and if this is remote therapy, that the platform is working correctly for you. There is opportunity to briefly share your current difficulties and what you might be looking for help with.
If you are in an urgent crisis, please contact your local A&E department or local out of hours team if you are in a crisis.
You are diagnosed with severe and enduring mental health difficulties. The evidence base suggests this requires a Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT) approach.
It is important to note that I do have a clinic in Stafford, if you are local to Staffordshire, however if this does not suit you an online option might be perfect for you.
This can mean you don’t have to travel to a clinic, you can access therapy at the right time and place at your convenience, wherever you feel most comfortable.
There is a lot of growing evidence that online therapy can be just as effective as face to face therapy.
You just need access to a laptop, zoom platform (I will organise a link for you to access each time we meet), and a private space for the therapy session.
Payments are via BACS transfer and we request this is paid within 24 hours of the appointment.
Yes, I am registered with BUPA, Nuffield Health, CIGNA and WPA.
Please check your policies and the following information:
- Does my health insurance cover mental health?
- Do I have a pre-authorisation code ? – I will need this before therapy starts.
- Do I have an excess on my policy ? Insurance providers often don’t cover excess so you will be responsible for paying this directly to LD Therapies.
- You are eligible for the cost of any cancellations or appointments that are not attended.
- It’s also worth checking how many sessions are covered for the year.
It can differ from policy to policy and provider to provider, so please do let me know if you have any questions and I will be happy to help.
